Teaching at Muchild is far removed from traditional textbook-inspired and drill-and-practice style learning. As the Merdeka Curriculum is based on creativity and self-expression, therefore the English lessons concentrate a lot on communication, collaboration, and real-life application. One of the most cited examples of this is the project-based assessments, where students present their understanding in any way they like, be it a video, digital storytelling, poster, performance, or an actual presentation. During my internship, I witnessed students sharing ideas with peers in a project I tasked them to do; some excitedly practicing a scene for their role-play while others preferred designing posters of digital media with a strong message. Watching them drive their learning made this experience all that much more rewarding.

Then there is flexibility in lesson planning, which is actively utilized by teachers who modify a lesson here and there to satisfy their students' progress and interests. An English class may, for example, start with discussion, continue with group work, role-playing situations, interactive games, and multimedia integration. Technology also contributes; more interactivity and the availability of online resources and digital tools bring about more meaningful learning. This flow of teaching has been one of my basis as well for my lesson planning and demo teaching as advised by my cooperating teacher as well.

Lastly, to fully enhance the learners' skill in English, they have an English Club where they do session meetings usually ever Monday, Friday, and Sunday. Here, they start with a topic and discuss using English as the language of communication. They may also have other activities they can do.

The video shows the members of the English club presenting Indonesia as their topic for the session.
