Muchild follows Kurikulum Merdeka, a curriculum designed to give both teachers and students more flexibility in the learning process. It is quite unlike some of the fixed, standardized approaches in that it encourages teachers to adjust and make the lessons fit exactly what the students need, are interested in, or are able to do so as to make the learning process more student-focused and engaging. It entails project-based learning, critical thinking, and a real-world application. Students are not merely memorizing information but are actively applying what they learn creatively and meaningfully.

Through my internship, I was struck by how Kurikulum Merdeka has inculcated independence, giving students more say concerning their learning, with more of the teachers acting as facilitators and not lecturing. The curriculum exploits technology and digital literacy in preparing the students for the modern ages, and assessment is not so product-centered but dynamic: a portfolio, presentations, group projects. There is less pressure to help bring out everything worthwhile in these students but privileges students' exploration and ownership of their learning.
