In this school, assessments are made to reflect both academic progress and practical application of knowledge. The school employs a combination of formative and summative evaluations to make sure students are prepared not only for the tests but also ready with life skills.
Throughout the semester, quizzes, written assignments, and oral presentations serve to monitor the progress of students. The real learning is assessed in mid-term and final examinations. Project-based assessment takes teachers out of their daily lesson plans and challenges students to creatively apply what they have learned. For instance, among English classes, writing essays, giving speeches, or debating became a task to do, which helped strengthen the students' capacity in communication. When it comes to their knowledge of their culture, a cultural performance competition is implemented. In this contest, all grade 7 learners group themselves and perform a traditional or cultural dance from the various regions in Indonesia.
Aside from that, under the Curriculum Merdeka, learners are given a project student worksheet which I believe is given every month or 3. The one where I got to witness their answer was a group student worksheet with a theme of “Bhineka Tunggla Ika” which is roughly translated to “Singular Diversity”. According to my cooperating teacher, this student worksheet touches the lessons discussed while incorporating the themes of culture.
